About Allen-- During the 60’s; and 70s we were all facing a steep learning curve, about what it meant to interact racially, socially, and sexually. There were political changes, social upheaval, the novelty and variety of drugs, the sexual liberation, and of course, the disco era and the partying.  

During the late 60s and early 70s, I developed several distinct groups of friends and associates in which one way or another was linked to my small-time drug sales and drug use. These associates were 1. My hippie buddies, 2. My gay friends, 3.  My drug friends and 4. My thug associates. 

 

Regardless of which circle of associates, I interacted with I began to realize that there was an emptiness in me that needed to be filled, there was a tiredness in me that needed rest, and there was a thirst in me that needed to be quenched.  I went from being a part of the hippie movement to hanging on the strip, as part of the thug scene, to bank robbery, to drug dealing (and overdoses),  and beyond.   I had brushes with the law, that should have caused me to have been locked up much longer than my brief stents of incarceration.  

It was on May 21st 1974 that a personal encounter with Christ totally changed the trajectory of my life.”

The change astounded all who knew me.  It was not long after that I answered the call of God and went into ministry .   As part of his ministry, I would use hand drawn stickman figures to add clarity to the messages that I  was sharing. We went from holding services in a living room, to a store front, to the building that we have been in since the early 80s.

 I soon noted that in the studying the Bible the verses I read came out as images in my mind, therefore I began to convert these verses into stickman images during my course of ministry.

Over many years of ministering, I have written and formatted many forms of illustrative materials for use during ministry.  I often write, print, and distribute an entire book to use for study. I am now making many of these same books available to you. And though I now use much more complex images the message and goal remains the same,

Allen has been privileged to be married to Honey (Sandra) for forty years and have a total of eight children, (five being from a previous marriage). Sandra often jokingly says that had she met Allen during his wild days she would have kept on walking.  Honey/Sandra is the behind-the-scenes supporter, encourager, and brains, in all the publication and ministerial work Allen does.

Sandra attended South Carolina State University, and she has a master of education degree from Cambridge she taught school for over thirty years before retiring. They are both born in south, she in Charleston S.C.  and he in Columbia S.C. Allen now serves as senior pastor of Full Gospel Word Church in Columbia S.C. And is now focusing more on the publication ministry.
